Has The Recent Allegation Halted Actress Tiffany Haddish Plans To Adopt By End Of The Year?
Tiffany Haddish may have experienced some roadblocks in her life, but there seem to be no plans to slow down or cease her goals. Amid other dramas going on in her life, the acclaimed actress has a dream that she still has not crossed off her list of achievements, and that’s to adopt a child. Tiffany Haddish has always spoken openly about her plans to adopt.
While speaking to Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazer, the Grammy Award-winning comedian shared that she’d always desired to become a “foster parent.” However, after receiving legal advice, she began the steps for adoption, including taking parenting classes. In addition to speaking on those specific plans, Haddish has often been candid about her experience growing up in a foster home. She detailed many of her experiences in her memoir, The Last Black Unicorn, released in 2017. During her conversation at the “Variety Changemakers Summit,” she confessed she didn’t think she would live past the age of 18. Sadly, Haddish figured she would “die there.”
Continuing, the star of The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent recalled living with her belongings in “trash bags.” Tiffany Haddish shared that, as a result, it affected her as she began to think much less of herself and devalue her worth. “…Moving like that is not good for the self-esteem because it [makes] you feel like garbage that can easily be transported,” the actress shared.
Because she went through these damaging feelings herself, Tiffany Haddish revealed her ambitions for other children to never experience that. In January of this year, she admitted to Entertainment Tonight that her plans to adopt were still in full effect, and she hopes for it to be fulfilled by the end of 2022. Additionally, Haddish spoke on her trip to Eritrea in Africa and jokingly shared that she was receiving offers to adopt other people’s children.
As widely reported recently, Tiffany Haddish was embroiled in legal troubles alongside comedian Aries Spears. However, TMZ recently reported that all charges have been dropped, and the lawsuit can never be revisited. The drama surrounding the legal case could have undoubtedly halted her adoption process. But this past June, Tiffany Haddish was still on the path to achieving her goal. The actress told PEOPLE she is still on the “difficult” journey and joked about potentially adopting a “white baby.” And although she admitted to joking, Haddish shared that interracial adoption and the hardships Black people face in their decision should be a sincere topic of discussion.
But Tiffany Haddish gave an update on her adoption timeline. It appears that if there is a delay in the actress successfully adopting a child, it’s due to her upcoming work schedule. Haddish revealed that she had two movies she was filming and two others that would follow. According to the actress, she’s looking to adopt upon completion so that she can successfully be a “present parent.”
